There is evidence that Autoimmune disorders like Fibromyalgia are managed very well on a good clean diet and self dedicated lifestyle. Diet changes can benefit people living with chronic pain disorders. But what helps you is individual to you. Those living with an Autoimmunie disorder like Fribromyalgia are often referred to the Meditrainian Diet ( also known as an Anti- inflammatory diet) by their clinical providers. The Meditrainian Diet consists of simple do’s and don'ts that almost everyone can follow. You should avoid unhealthy foods and ingredients such as:

  • Sugars: Soda, candies, ice cream, table sugar, agava, monk fruit, Coconut sugar, Erythritol, Xylitol, Yacon syrup, and many others.

  • Refined grains: White bread, pasta made with refined wheat, etc.

  • Trans fats: Found in margarine and various processed foods.

  • Refined oils: Soybean oil, canola oil, Sunflower oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil and others.

  • Any Processed Meat: Processed sausages, hot dogs, etc.

  • Highly Processed Foods: Anything labeled “low-fat” or “diet” or which looks like it was made in a factory.

For a Healthier you, you can base your diet on these healthy, unprocessed Mediterranean foods:

  • Vegetables: Tomatoes, broccoli, kale, spinach, onions, cauliflower, carrots, Brussels sprouts, cucumbers, etc.

  • Fruits: Apples, bananas, oranges, pears, strawberries, plums, grapes, dates, figs, Honeydew, Cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches, apricots, etc.

  • Nuts and seeds: Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, macadamia nuts, cashews, summer squash seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc.

  • Legumes: Beans, peas, lentils, pulses, peanuts, chickpeas, etc.

  • Tubers: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips, yams, Rutabaga, Jerusalem artichoke, etc.

  • Whole grains: whole oats, brown rice, amaranth, millet, corn, buckwheat, sorghum, Quinoa, GF whole grain breads and pastas.

  • Fish and seafood: Salmon, sardines, Trout, Tuna, Cod, Herring, Mahi-mahi, mackerel, shrimp, etc.
